On Thursday March 6 2008 Wisconsin Die Casting closed its doors. This is not new news. This is yet another rant that tells what I feel is an injustice by corporate America. Due to health reasons my mother, Ramona T., was forced into early retirement at the tender age of 62. Ma has been in and out of the hospital since December of 2007. Ma has advanced COPD. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. In early January she had a heart attack due to the severity of the COPD. After 2 weeks in the hospital she was released. Before she was released she asked me to come home and help with her day to day needs. I, of course, said yes. I took a leave of absence from Teen Challenge of Saint Louis to return to Milwaukee. Ma was in serious condition. I knew in my heart that the right thing to do was to move back home to help both ma and Yia Yia. (Greek for Grandma) The executive director of Milwaukee TC Craig Harper called me 3 days later and offered me a job at Teen Challenge of Wisconsin. I have been back in Milwaukee for a little over a month. Ma has been in contact with others at Wisconsin Die Casting. No one knows anything. Ma's short term disability is done in April. Ma needs either the COBRA or affordable insurance. To my knowlege the owner of the company
Sunset Bank
Harry Johnson (exec. VP)
521 W. Sunset Dr.
Waukesha, WI 53189

did not give proper notice of the closing. This is outrageous ! The bank must give some answers and do the right thing. The fates of 65+ people, including my mothers, future stand in the balance.
Another Blogger tells a little more of the story.
The Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel also has a piece about it.

Ramona is your Ma??? Tell her that Clint says hi, and that I wish her the best of luck.
If COBRA doesn't work for you, try the WI DWD and Social Security to see if she can get disability insurance.
