Alrighty Then !

The last two weeks have gone remarkably well. Tom returned to continue preaching on the book of Daniel. The main thrust was that we, like them (Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego) need to engage the culture around us. I tend to agree with him. Christians for too long have separated themselves from society at large. Today we need to remember the story. They didn't try and tell everyone that they were going to hell. Instead they engaged the culture and excelled at what they did. In the long run they affected a lot of people. Too many times we as Christians are just plain jerks. When the guys at the office/shop ask you to the bar after work ... your first response shouldn't be ... "well, I don't drink." I am NOT saying that we should frequent bars. What I AM saying is that we don't always need to be a stick in the mud/jerk. Jesus told us to be salt and light ... not hermits. Be involved with the people around you ... especially those that don't profess Christ. Jesus showed interest in everyone He was around ... especially the poor. If I'm not mistaken ... we are supposed to emulate Jesus.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it !
