Go Packers !

Tom preached another good one this morning. He started with Psalm 42. Many of us know the song more than the Psalm itself ... As the deer ... Tom went on to explain what a maskil was. Masckil is a transliteration from the Hebrew meaning ... listen, learn from this. Basically it is preaching in song. It spoke volumes to me. The hart is a type of deer indigenous to Israel. We should thirst for God as the hart thirsts for streams of water. The hart, when hunted, will dive into the river head first, knowing that it may be it's last drink. I seem to be going through a cold streak right now. I desire Him but ... yet there is a distance. I know full well that He will never leave me or forsake me ... yet ... I feel ... distant. My faith in Him is not wavering but ... my faith in those who call themselves His people diminishes more and more with each passing day. I know hat I am supposed to keep my focus on Him. It is difficult when I am faced with bigotry, judgementalism and double-standards at every corner. I ask myself what I am supposed to be learning from being here. Do I become like those around me ? ... I think not. Am I better than those around me ? ... no. Do I have a freedom unlike those around me ? ... DEFINITELY ! I am thankful that I am able to see these things without growing cold, judgemental or complacent. I am thankful for the work that only God can do in a mans heart.
